Privacy

We keep as little as we can. Reading the site needs no account. The weekly vote sets one cookie that remembers your choice for thirty days.

If you answer the weekly question, we keep the text, your display name if you give one, your language and, if you tell us, your country. An email address is optional and is used only to credit you if your answer becomes a story.

Page statistics are collected without personal identifiers: which pages are read and for how long, which map, clip and share buttons are tapped, the language, the country and the kind of device. Your address is mixed with a key that changes every day, so a visit cannot be tied to you or to another day. Browsers that send the Global Privacy Control signal are not counted. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.
